Lovely Kerala Holiday

Overall we were very pleased with the arrangements made for our holiday, which we enjoyed very much.We appreciated the five different types of accommodation that we had, each of which offered a unique experience. We would particularly mention the welcoming and relaxed environment at Dewalokam Organic Homestay where we were well received after our long (slightly delayed) outward journey. Meals at all locations were of good quality and nicely served. We had a helpful, friendly driver (Roy) who looked after us well, responded readily to our requests and introduced us to local walks in 2 or 3 places that we would not have otherwise discovered. He also enabled us to have some communication with local people e.g. at a tea plantation in the Munnar district, where we had great fun.We have valued the assistance of Ellison Roberts in enabling us to have such a lovely visit to Kerala. We would certainly use their services again and recommend them to others interested in making a visit to India.

Wonderful Kerala experience

We had a wonderful time in India and were both captivated by it . Craig has said it was a life changing experience !

We saw pineapples growing, women picking tea and when you looked up the sky was filled with birds ! We were taken by one of our hosts (Simon - great hit with us) to a deserted palace ( such faded glory) with chickens running around and a dog looking after her puppies. We went to a talk by a Dr on the principles of Ayurveda, we were shown around a tea factory , and saw woman doing their laundry in the river. Best of all I looked up into the night sky and saw the new moon , it had fallen on its back and was smiling down on us . Such a surprise to see the moon in a different perspective and quite knocks you off your axis !

Thank you for arranging our Indian experience. We really did not know what we were in for and the whole thing was a wonderful surprise.

Fabulous Kerala holiday

We had a fabulous trip and many happy memories.

Dewalokam was wonderful. The people & food were first class as was the room & the pool etc. Lots of interesting activities and we especially enjoyed the cookery demos. We really enjoyed our trip to the Tea Museum & plantation in Munnar-our guide was excellent & being a wildlife photographer took us to see some wild elephant which was a real treat.

Spice Village was out of this world and we were very comfortable there - wonderful location, staff & food. In addition to our wildlife walk we did the bamboo rafting trip. The houseboat was another big hit! We had anticipated it may be a bit intense-us with three staff-but that was not the case, a fabulous experience. Marari Villas was also a wonderful place. The staff were great & the owners Rupert & Olga went out of their way to make us welcome. They even invited us to an Onam lunch at their beach villa.

Thank you for organising everything for us.

Excellent holiday in Kerala

We are safely home from our excellent holiday in Kerala.

Dewalokam Homestay was excellent. As promised we were given a very warm welcome which ensured a “soft landing” in India. Our hosts looked after us exceptionally well and it was interesting to see how they made their smallholding so productive. Our accommodation in Spice Village was first class and we found the whole estate well laid out amongst interesting trees and shrubs. We were the only guests on the houseboat and were treated very well indeed. The accommodation was very comfortable and the catering first rate.

Our days relaxing at leisure at Marari Beach resort were just that! Our thatched cottage was well appointed and we were very comfortable -the pool was deliciously warm as was the sea. We enjoyed excellent food including lunch with our tuc-tuc driver’s family where we ate fish that we had bought at the mornings landing. Cochin was quite a contrast! We were delighted by Le Colonial which is a gem. Being end of season we were the only guests and the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel was well situated for the shops and restaurants in the Fort Cochin area and with the pool was a welcome oasis for us to return to from our excursions.

Thank you for organising our very successful visit to Kerala.

Kerala trip - an outstanding success

With a lifetime of airline staff discounted travel behind us, we have done many trips around the world over the years. I can honestly say our Kerala trip with Ellison Roberts was an outstanding success far exceeding our expectations.

We loved the Old Harbour Hotel - great room and great food. Paradisa Plantation Retreat was supreme, the highlight of the trip, particularly the urbane and very entertaining Mr Paulose. He looked after us so well, taking us around the local tea plantation and factory and getting us into the Peermadu Planters' Club for a beer and to feel the ghosts! We had Paradisa to ourselves and had fantastic food and a lovely room.

The overall organisation of our trip was seamless. Our driver, Roy, was outstanding and the guides who joined us from time to time were excellent too.

Very many thanks for putting together such a great trip.

Great Kerala Holiday

Thanks for a great Kerala holiday - We loved it!

The accommodation was excellent throughout, our driver (James) was pleasant, helpful and ever-cheerful and the Toyota Innova was very comfortable. The itinerary and guides were well-chosen but Basheer and Rajhit in Cochin in particular really stood out, nice guys who really knew their stuff and were good company to boot.

We had a really great holiday, 30 years since we were in India and Kerala is a very special place. We'll be back at some stage, that's for sure - thanks to you and all your team - we'll certainly be recommending ER to all who ask.
Best wishes,
Terry & Christine

Kerala - trip of a lifetime

Our trip was wonderful from start to finish, thoughtfully put together, with the perfect combination of sights and relaxation.

Le Colonial and Vismaya were perfect 'bookends' to our trip. It felt a real privilege to stay at both, with the great service, beautiful surroundings and delicious food. That's not to say the CGH places weren't great too - Marari beach was beautiful!

I think what has left us with the biggest holiday feeling of all though, is all the brilliant people who were part of our trip - Sunesh who met us at the airport, Vippin and Samesh at Le Colonial, Sirin - our guide for the day in Fort Cochin, Vinod - our guide in Periyar, Santhosh, Vinse and Baby - our crew on the houseboat (another amazing part of the trip), and Vinod - the most attentive host - at Vismaya, and the absolute star of our trip, Mr Babu, our driver. He was a brilliant driver, making us feel very safe on the often crazy roads, but much more than that, he took us to see things completely in addition to the itinerary, and we learnt so much from him.

I would recommend you to anyone and everyone - we really did have the trip of a lifetime, and we have completely fallen in love with Kerala.

Kerala - an ideal family holiday

“As a family with grown up daughters this was an ideal holiday with lots of interest and a perfect mix of travel + leisure. As predicted our day/night on the houseboat was amazing. The sun shone…and the crew were particularly brilliant. The garden and cookery session at Marari Beach Resort was really good. The tailor, Jose, next door made really beautiful shirts for Mike. We bought the linen in Alleppey. Having bikes at the resort was so good, the girls discovered the local beauty parlour for henna tattoos. Thanks for all your expert help. The team over there always made us feel safe and communication was great. Lovely people. Until next time…”

Fantastic Holiday in Kerala

Just returned from a fantastic holiday in Kerala!

We wanted to thank you for your efforts in ensuring a wonderful experience with no problems along the way. The locations you selected for us were first class and gave us a great introduction to India with a varied selection of accommodation.

The driver was always cheerful and suggested extra places to visit. He was always punctual and a safe driver (or at least as safe as you can be in India!).

The highlights were:

The Houseboat – this was really excellent and provided great service in a relaxing environment (they even allowed me to have a go at steering) and the condition of the boat was certainly better than some we saw in the Backwaters.

Motty’s Homestay – a different experience but a very comfortable room. Motty was an excellent host and invited us each evening for drinks and a chat on his veranda. He was very knowledgeable about Kerala/India and we learnt a lot more than if we had simply stayed at a hotel.

Periyar Wildlife Park – an excellent walk in a beautiful setting, just the two of us with our own personal guide (we even saw two elephants on the walk).

Marari Beach Resort – this is a fantastic resort with a lovely room facing the beach. The beach was deserted and great for swimming in the Arabian Sea. Again the staff couldn’t do enough for us and we will have long memories of this visit.

Overall the trip exceeded all our expectations (especially Hilary who had concerns about being ‘hassled’ – none of which happened). The people we met were all very friendly and smiley – great memories!

Finally we would both like to thank you for informing people about our Ruby Wedding Anniversary – this resulted in several cakes, upgrades to our rooms and a signed scroll from the staff at Marari!

We will certainly use your company again (it felt a true professional and personal service) and would have no hesitation in recommending you to others. We met other travellers from companies such as Saga, Audley and Kerala Connections and you win hands down!

Kerala - Homestay delight

Just want to say a huge thank you for organising our holiday to Kerala for us. It was faultless from the time we landed in Kochi. Each Home-stay so different and the staff were so friendly and helpful in all of them. Our driver/guide Sunil was fantastic, the best ever. He was so committed, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. It really was a holiday that we will always remember .
